Sea Base High Adventure - Summer 2007

Troop 84 sent two crews to the Boy Scouts Sea Base High Adventure site in Islamorada, Florida in the Florida Keys during August of 2007.

Above is the Sea Exploring Crew, preparing to leave for the airport.

There was a lot of waiting at airports and car rental agencies.

Once the crew got to Florida, the fun began - with an airboat ride on the Everglades!

The Sea Exploring team also got to see an Alligator Show.

The Coral Reef team exploring a roadside wildlife area in the Keys.

The Coral Reef team was on the Wanderin' Star.

The Sea Exploring team was on the Jolly II Rover

Loading the food for the trip was hard work!

The Coral Reef crew set sail at dusk - an awesome experience!

And here is the Coral Reef crew chillin' below deck.

The snorkeling was awesome and the underwater sights were fantastic.  The boys snorkeled using the "buddy system".

There were thousands of fish on the reef, from angelfish to rays to eels to shark.

The Sea Exploring crew got to fish for lobster.

And even caught enough to eat!

The groups saw interesting sea ferns and brain coral formations.

Who is that pirate-looking dude?

Both crews got to dock at Key West for one night.

The Coral Reef team saw a juggler on a unicycle and watched an escape artist.

The sunrises and sunsets were very memorable.

But the most exciting scene was pulling back into Sea Base at the end of the journey!

Once again, thanks to all the Scouts, leaders, parents and others who made this once-in-a-lifetime experience happen.  It took months of planning and preparation and dedication to make this a reality!
